After graduating from Belmont High School in 1984,  I attended Northeast Mississippi Community College and received an Associate's degree in 1986.  In 2002, I received a BS in elementary education from the University of North Alabama and a Master's in elementary education in 2006.  I received National Board Certification in 2011.

Previously, I taught fifth grade for seven years at Vina High School. After that, I served as the literacy coach at Red Bay High School for 8 years. This year, I teach sixth grade English Language Arts at Red Bay.

I was raised in Mississippi where I graduated from Belmont High School in 1984.  In 1987, I married Stewart Strickland.  We have one son, Sam, who graduated from Red Bay High School in 2012 and is presently teaching history in Niwot, CO.  My husband and I reside in Halltown and are members of New Union Missionary Baptist Church.
